Brief Profile and Achievements of Dr. Rita Sharma

Dr. Rita Sharma, a researcher, educationist, socialist, economist, and Senior Professor in a leading Govt College has been successfully running two state-of-the-art Engineering Colleges in the Gwalior region under the aegis of Mahatma Dhule Sikhsha Evem Samaj Kalyan Samiti.

Dr. Sharma, a 1984 Post Graduate in Economics with Gold Medal, has completed her PhD in Economics from Jiwaji University in the year 1990. Her research papers are published in many International journals of repute.

She competed in the National Physical Efficiency Test (Jr) organized by Ministry of Education and Social Welfare, Govt of India, conducted in the year 1975 in MP and successfully qualified for “One-Star” merit certificate.

Having attended NCC under 3 MP Girls BN, Dr Sharma passed her “J”-Part-I & II examinations held in Feb 1976 and Feb 1977, respectively, under the authority of The Ministry of Defense, Govt of India.

During the period 22 June to 14 July 1992 she completed UGC Refresher Course organized by Jiwaji University and also presented a research paper on “ग्वालियर संभाग में एकाधिकार के चक्रव्यूह का सुपर बाजारों द्वारा अनुमोदन”.

She is also credited to have attended yet another UGC Refresher Course from 12 Aug to 04 Sep 1993 organized by Jiwaji University and presented a paper on “ग्वालियर संभाग में सहकारिता द्वारा सामाजिक न्याय”.

Dr. Sharma has also undergone an Orientation Course sponsored by UGC and conducted by Academic Staff College, Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi during Nov – Dec 1993.

She attended the 79th Annual Conference of the Indian Economic Association at Jiwaji University, Gwalior during 27-29 Dec 1996.

A research paper on “Need and origin of supermarket in the economy of India” was presented by Dr. Sharma in a National Seminar on “Indian Economics and intervention perspective” organized by Dr.Bhagwat Sahai Govt. College, Gwalior during 23-24 Aug 2012.

Yet another feather in her hat is the “International Leadership Award for Educational Excellence” conferred at the International Achievers Conference, New Delhi in May 2015.

She presented another research paper on “Economics of exhaustible resources – A case study of quarrying industry in Gwalior District” in an International Conference on “Innovative Research in Engineering Science & Management” organized by our college (GIIT) in association with Conference info on 08 May 2016.

Dr. Rita Sharma is a great thinker and motivator. For the uplift of the educational standard and to provide a job-oriented engineering education with ‘Bhartiya Sanskar’, that too at affordable fees, she established two Engineering Institutions, one of which being GIIT, at Gwalior offering B.Tech. Program in various branches.

There are number of activities run under the leadership of hers, viz.:

1. Interacting with the top-notch industries to enhance Industry-Institution-Interaction.
2. MOUs with leading industry for cutting edge technology training to the students.
3. Number of conferences and seminars organized in the thrust area of Engineering under her leadership.
4. FDPs and motivating sessions for the academic development of teaching staff.
5. Establishment of state-of-the-art laboratories and ultra-modern infrastructure in the institution.
